2006, installation, porcelain cups, photos.

A plastic semi-sphere is placed on the bottom of these Chinese-like cups. When filled with transparent liquid an image is revealed as result of a combinational lense distortion. Originally, the revealed photo is pornographic. I have inserted instead a series of violent scenes, photos of missing persons and twisted fortune cookie scripts.

The viewers were invited to pour water from a jar in to the glasses in order to observe the images and then to drink the content symbolically proceeding directly to the next one.

As we swallow uncritically too many images and information, I was hoping to gain back some of the faded intensity of those pictures prolonging the time of reflection to the maximum possible deserved. The use of everyday objects in a shifted destination transformed a mechanical gesture to a ritual procedure.
